these are magnetic octo keepers. The one end with the opening is attached to your hose (on an octo or set of gauges or whatever) and the other end clips off to a d-ring on your BCD. Put them close together... WHAM! extra strong magnet keeps them together. Need to deploy the octo or other item? Just give it a yank!
